GPA is an acronym for Grade Point Average. At Ryerson it is calculated by term as well as an overall cumulative GPA. You should be able to find your GPA in RAMSS. Here's where you can find more information on GPAs at Ryerson.

What’s a Carousel Interview?

The live-in carousel interview is made up of a number of parts that allow you to demonstrate your skills through various problem solving and interactive activities that focus on programming, communication, counselling and helping, as well as a traditional style interview. You will rotate through the activities in a group and finish with a case study at the end of the carousel interview period. The carousel interview takes longer than a traditional style interview at around 3 hours, but there is a short break and refreshment in the middle.

The live-out carousel interview is made up of a number of parts that allow you to demonstrate your skills through various problem solving and interactive activities that focus on communication, conflict resolution, decision making, as well as a traditional style interview.  You will rotate through the activities in a group and finish with a case study/assignment at the end of the carousel interview period.  The carousel interview takes longer than a traditional style interview at around 3 hours, but there is a short break and refreshment in the middle.

What should I wear for the Carousel Interview?

This is a professional interview as you are applying for a job, so your appearance counts. As the carousel interview period is longer than other interviews and you will be moving between different locations you’ll want to wear something that is professional, but still allows you to move and feel comfortable.

What should I bring to the Carousel Interview?

You do not need to bring anything with you to the carousel interview. If you feel more comfortable with paper and pen or a bottle of water you can bring those items along, however they are not needed.

I’m not available for any of the Carousel times, what should I do?

You need to get in touch with the main contact on the job posting immediately to let them know of the situation and discuss options.

Does everyone get an interview?

No, not everyone gets an interview. Applicants are pre-screened before the interview period to ensure they meet the base requirements (i.e. GPA requirement) of the position. If you do not meet the base requirements then it would be unfair to you, the applicant, to proceed any further in the hiring process as the fit between you and the position would not work well at that time.

Also, for the jobs that have a limited number of positions and large number of applications then time restraints require that we complete an additional pre-screen based on more specific requirements of the position (taken from the qualification of the job posting). This allows us to identify applicants with the better fit for the position to compete in the interview.

When will I know if I got the position?

Please refer to the important dates section for more information on when job offers will be emailed.

What happens if I decline the position?

If you decline the position then the job is no longer available to you and will be offered to the next best candidate.

If the position you decline is a live-in position you are also cancelling your application for residence and forfeiting your guaranteed space in residence.

What happens if I accept the position and then quit?

If you quit the position you must do so in writing (i.e. email) and send it to the supervisor who offered you the position.

In addition if the position you quit is a live-in position you are also cancelling your application for residence and forfeiting your guaranteed space in residence as well as forfeiting your $400 initial payment.

How much does the job pay?
