What is Orientation Week?

A new school, new place to live, and new friends, orientation week is one of the best ways to kick off your university career and get to know everything. Students are provided the chance to participate in annual Residence traditions the week before classes start.  Packed full of events, orientation week is a great chance to let loose and have fun before you hit the books! Most of the events are free and require no registration but there are a few paid events which you must purchase the ALL ACCESS PASS to attend. See the ALL ACCESS PASS page for details on how to purchase it.

When is Orientation Week?

Residence Orientation begins after you move-in on Sunday, August 25th and is jam-packed with events through Monday, September 2nd.

Is it mandatory?

Orientation Week is not mandatory, but it is definitely recommended!

How much does it cost?

It depends. A majority of the events that take place during Orientation Week are completely free ! However, admission tospecific events such as the Yacht Cruise and a group trip to The Ex will only be available to you  if you purchase our ALL ACCESS PASS.  The ALL ACCESS PASS will grant you access to a number of awesome events happening on campus and around the city!  Please check out the ALL ACCESS PASS page for more information.

How  I purchase an ALL ACCESS PASS?

It’s pretty simple.  Start by filling out the order form available on the ALL ACCESS PASS page.  You don’t have to send us any money right away. Once your order form has been received and confirmed, we will add the cost of the ALL ACCESS PASS to your Ryerson student account. This can take up to a week so please be patient while we process your form.

Do I have to register ahead of time?

If you would like to attend the paid events available through the ALL ACCESS PASS you will need to fill out the online form. Please NOTE:  All the free events DO NOT require registration.

 What do I wear?

Dress for the occasion.  Each activity requires appropriate attire, but don’t worry, we’ll let you know what to wear ahead of time!

Will there be alcohol?

Residence Orientation Week is completely dry. That means NO alcohol is served at any of our events.

What are ROCs?

The Ryerson/Residence Orientation Crew (ROCs) are full-time students currently enrolled at Ryerson.  ROCs can be found across campus to make your transition to Ryerson a little bit easier.  They've got the inside track on your program, places to go in the city, and great events on campus and around Toronto so make sure you talk to them when you get here!

What if I bought  an ALL ACCESS PASS but I can’t go anymore?

We have a no refund  policy for our ALL ACCESS PASS and it is not transferable so make sure you can attend before you make the purchase. However, seeing as  ALL ACCESS PASSES are first come, first serve, and there is a greater demand for our tickets then there is supply we recommend that you get your ALL ACCESS PASS as soon the online form is made available!

I completed and submitted the ALL ACCESS PASS form and I haven’t heard anything yet!

Don’t panic! We have hundreds of  forms coming in for our ALL ACCESS PASS and it takes about a week to process if you need to confirm your spot email rezactivities@ryerson.ca and we'll get back to you, but otherwise if you send in the form you can assume you are good to go.

When/Where do I pick up my All Access Pass (or other single) tickets?

Before events we will simply check your name off a list so there's no physical ticket you will need to pick up.

I didn’t buy and ALL ACCESS PASS early enough and they are sold out now! Am I still going to have fun?

Of course! The majority of our events are free and available to all residence students so don’t worry, we’ll still keep you busy.

Can my non-Ryerson friends attend Orientation activities? Can they stay with me during Orientation Week?

Orientation Week is a great opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, and become familiar with your new home for the year. That being said, Orientation activities are only for Ryerson students.  During Orientation Week, we also have a no overnight guest policy to allow you to fully experience Residence Orientation.

Who should I contact if I have questions about Orientation?

All the information you need should be on this website so make sure you check here first to see if that can answer your question. During Orientation Week, the “O-Zone” will be set up in the Pitman Hall lobby to answer all of your Orientation questions.  If you have a question that must be answered before Orientation Week, contact information can be found under the Orientation Contact tab.  Be sure to access our social media pages regularly for Orientation updates throughout the summer.  We will be updating these pages regularly to:
