Waiting List

Student Housing Services - Waiting List

We unfortunately cannot house every first-year student in residence, due to limited space. Students who are not accepted into residence during the 1st round of offers are placed on the residence waiting list.

After the 1st round of offers (June 21, 2013), there are three subsequent offer rounds during the summer. Students on the waitlist will receive a waitlist update or an offer on these dates. Please note that all offers are sent through e-mail.

Offer Dates   First-Installment Deadline
2nd round of offers: July 17, 2013 July 24, 2013
3rd round of offers: July 31, 2013 August 7, 2013
4th round of offers: August 14, 2013 August 21, 2013

In order to adhere to these offer dates, deadlines for first-installment payments must be condensed. If you are offered a space in residence during the 2nd, 3rd, of 4th round of offers, please be prepared to pay the first-installment payment within one week of receiving your Residence Offer of Accommodation, in order to maintain your space in residence. For a full list of fees please visit the Fees Schedule Page.

If you are on the waitlist, you can check your position at any time after June 21, 2013, by logging into the eRez website at: https://ryerson.erezlife.com/index.php?student_login=1.

If you apply to residence after the June 7, 2013 deadline, you will be placed at the end of the waitlist, in order of when you complete your application and make the $400 initial payment.

FAQs

Q: What If I don't get an offer?

A: We offer throughout the entire summer and school year, usually exhausting the waitlist in January. So, it is likely that you will receive an offer sometime during the summer or within the first-semester of classes. Therefore, it is not so much a matter of if you will get an offer, but when.

Q: How will I receive my offer?

A: All correspondence from Student Housing Services will be sent through e-mail. If at any time you wish to change the e-mail address we have on-file, please notify us immediately, by sending a request to housing@ryerson.ca. It is your responsibility to keep your contact information up-to-date.

Once you receive an official Ryerson e-mail address in late August, we will begin to contact you at that address only.

Q: I want to change my room preferences on my residence application. How can I do this?

A: If you would like to make changes to your room and/or building preferences, please send an e-mail to housing@ryerson.ca, outlining your preferences for all three buildings and all six room styles. The choices you can choose from are:

ILLC:
1. Single room with private bathroom

O'Keefe House:
1. Double occupancy room
2. Triple occupancy room

Pitman Hall:
1. Apartment-style room
2. Double room
3. Paired room
4. Single room

For more information on room styles, please see Residence Accommodations.

Q: How can I remove myself from the waitlist?

A: If you find another place to live during the summer or school year, please contact the Student Housing Services Office, in writing, to request that you be removed from the waitlist; e-mail is the preferred method of cancellation. Please be sure to include your full name and student number.

It is important to note that you can cancel off the waitlist at any time and recieve a refund of $350. However, if we offer you a room and you decline the offer, you will forfeit your $400 initial payment. This allows us to keep the waitlist accurate and up-to-date.

Q: What are my other options for housing?

A: There are many places to live in Toronto, but it is sometimes hard to know where to begin. Be sure to make use of our Off-Campus Housing Website at www.ryerson.ca/offcampushousing. Here you will find listings from landlords in the area, as well as links to other useful websites and student-only apartment buildings in the Ryerson area.

If you live a commutable distance from Ryerson, you can commute to the University for the first few months of school. You will likely receive a Residence Offer of Accommodation by second semester, at which point, you can move into residence. Your fees will be prorated appropriately.
