Residence Life Staff Team
In order to facilitate your transition to Residence and support you during your time here we have lots of student-staff in the building. These student-staff are trained upper year students who live and work in Residence.
Residence Advisors (RAs), Community Advisors (CAs)
These individuals help build community within the Residence. They are the go-to person for your floor. Not only are these individuals very helpful they also can connect you with services elsewhere on campus. RAs and CAs are also on-call for emergencies and provide regular programming throughout the academic year.
Academic Links (ALs)
Academic Links are also live-in student staff. These individuals are trained and focus specifically on academics. ALs are not assigned to a Floor - instead they are assigned to a particular faculty. ALs link residence students to their specific faculty and also to other academic resources on campus. They provide regular programming and maintain office hours in the Academic Link office.
Graduate Advisor - Community Standards (GA - Community Standards)
The Graduate Advisor - Community Standards works with the Residence Life Coordinator to helps administer the residence discipline system. The residence discipline system is a system for documenting and providing feedback/sanctions for student behaviour.
Graduate Advisor - Activities (GA - Activities)
The Graduate Advisor - Activities provides programming support to Residence Student Leaders in the three residence buildings. These program/activities are designed to ease the transition to University, provide education outside of the classroom and build a sense of community within the residence.
Graduate Advisor - Residence Wide Activities (GA - Residence Wide Activities)
The Graduate Advisor - Residence Wide Activities develops, implements and assesses Residence Wide activities designed to promote Ryerson pride and spirit. The Graduate Advisor - Residence Wide Activities facilitates the Residence Programming Committee- a group of student staff and first year students responsible for planning and implementing residence wide programming.
Graduate Advisor - Leadership (GA - Leadership)
The primary responsibilities of GA – Leadership are to identify potential leaders within the residence environment, foster leadership development opportunities in residence, provide on-going coaching to current student leaders, and help build a sense of community within the residence.
Residence Life Specialist
The Residence Life Specialist is a part-time staff position that directly supports the Residence Advisors in their roles while supporting the wider Residence Life Program in areas such as Residence Life Team training, Residence Orientation, Assessment, Residence Life Team hiring and Student Leader recognition.
Academic Link Facilitator (ALF)
The Academic Link Facilitator is a full-time staff position. The ALF facilitates the Academic Link program and supervises all of the ALs. The ALF also oversees the Living Learning Communities in residence.
Residence Life and Education Coordinator (RLEC)
The Residence Life and Education Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of Residence Life. The RLEC is responsible for student discipline, directing residence life programming and ultimately coordinating all the student-staff living in the Residence.
