International Student Services
Keitha
Prospere serves as the International Services Administrator. Her roles include
managing financial assistance programs at ISS such as the ISSWEP, the Emergency
Bursary Fund for International Students, and creating and managing special projects
such as the Canadian Immigration and Legal Services program, the U.S. Immigration
Workshop, and Special Training for departmental assistants. Keitha works in
special collaboration with the external community such as Citizenship and Immigration
Canada immigration officials, the US consulate, provincial government officials,
lawyers and consultants. She also manages the ISS website, the International
Eye newsletter, staff, training, and bookkeeping.
Keitha graduated from the Information Technology Management at Ryerson University and has won student leadership awards while studying at Ryerson. She is currently completing her MBA at Ryerson. Once an international student herself with five years work experience at ISS, she has "gained an understanding of the special needs for international students and establishes a personal connection to their individual experiences."
In the last five years, Keitha has witnessed improved conditions for international students studying at Ryerson such as the development of the ISSWEP program, easier accessibility for the Off Campus and Post Graduation Work Permits, and the addition of the Canadian Experience Class in Permanent Residency applications. She says, "It is good to see these changes because they support opportunities for students to build their lives in Canada. I faced many more challenges as an international student and because of these changes it is easier for ISS to support international students." ISS is constantly evolving to support students by developing innovative services that accommodate the changing needs of international students.
