- Prepare for next year's enrollment
- Learn about next year's UHIP premium & enrollment process

ISS |
- New international students will receive UHIP information through their welcome packages.
- Returning international students will learn about UHIP through ISS listserv messages, ISS website & international newsletter.
- ISS will send e-mails to inform all eligible students of enrollment and fees.

- Fill out enrollment forms for temporary proof of coverage or addition of a spouse or dependants
|
ISS |
- ISS distributes & assists students with UHIP enrolment forms.
- Exchange students must complete the enrollment form in order to be enrolled through Sun Life.
- There is a late enrollment fee of $500 if a spouse or dependant is not enrolled within 30 days of their arrival in Canada.
- ISS will submit all completed enrollment forms to Enrollment Services for processing.

- Pick up student copy of UHIP Enrollment forms
|
ISS |
- Enrollment Services stamps students' UHIP enrollment forms & passes the student copy to ISS for students' pickup.
- Students could use their copy as temporary proof of UHIP coverage before their UHIP cards are ready.

- Pay UHIP premium through Students Fees office
|
Student Fees |
- UHIP premium is automatically included in students' fees.
- Students could obtain a receipt of UHIP payment from the Student Fees office.

- Request UHIP exemption for a pre-approved insurance plan
|
ISS |
- Students must take proof of pre-approved health insurance to Enrollment Services.
- Enrollment Services forwards exemption to Student Fees to process refund.

- Request UHIP exemption for a health insurance plan that is not pre-approved
|
Sun Life |
- Students must mail proof of alternative health insurance to Sun Life for assessment.
- Sun Life sends confirmation of exemption to the student and Enrollment Services.
- Enrollment Services forwards exemption to Student Fees to process refund.

- Learn about UHIP coverage & claim
- Learn about nearby health clinics, drug stores, dentist offices etc.
- Address individual student issues & questions about UHIP

ISS |
UHIP information will be shared and explained to students through:
- International Orientation Workshops
- Regular students' advising appointments, inquiry assistance via phone, e-mail and ISS website
- International newsletter
- ISS listserv messages to all international students
- International Peer Supporters

- Pick up UHIP cards in mid November
|
ISS |
- Students must present their ID to pick up their UHIP cards
|
Special Questions & Issues
- What should I do if my UHIP card is not available by November?
- What if my medical expenses are not covered by UHIP?
- What if my medical expense occurs outside of Canada?
- Do I have coverage for drug, optical and dental services?
- Who could assist me if I could not understand the doctors, the staff from the insurance company, etc.?

ISS |
- ISS will liaise with Sun life and/or Enrollment Services to confirm students? enrolment status.
- ISS assists students to communicate with Sun life and/or health centers about specific health expenses and the related coverage issues.
- ISS may also direct students to RSU for insurance about drug, dental, & optical coverage.
- ISS may find someone who could speak your language to assist you.
- ISS will also assist students to understand detailed information.
