International Student Services

Ryerson's Immigration Registry (the Registry) is a new service developed by International Student Services (ISS). Through the Registry, ISS will provide pro-active support to international students in maintaining, updating and reminding them of their immigration status while studying at Ryerson.

As required by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, each international student is responsible to have a valid study permit in order to study in Canada legally. Therefore, it is crucial for all international students at Ryerson to have a safe place to store copies of all their immigration documents, as well as assistance to extend these documents before the specified deadlines.

However, when faced with huge academic pressure, some international students fail to remember to renew their study permits on time. This may result in students violating immigration law and/or being deported. To better support our students, the Registry will help alleviate the pressure on international students by keeping track of their study permit information, reminding them of the renewal and assisting them in the extension and/or application process.

International Student Services will:

• Provide notification emails to students when it is time to renew their immigration documents
• Assist students through the renewal process by providing supporting documentation and immigration advising

International Students will:

• Be relieved from the stress of remembering the expiry dates of their study permits
• Have access to the information on their study permits should it be required to show proof of their immigration status for purposes such as employment, etc.
• Obtain copies of their study permits from ISS should the original be lost or stolen

All international students wishing to join the Registry must:

• Complete the Registry Information Form which is also available at ISS
• Agree to the terms and conditions specified by the Registry
• Provide a copy of their passport and study permit, off-campus work permit (if applicable), and any other immigration documents they wish to provide to ISS
• Keep ISS updated on all the changes to personal, academic and immigration information, and
• Provide ISS with new copies of immigration documents once they have been renewed
