ISS - Language Connections
Come to Ryerson International Connections!!!

  • To learn a new language.
  • To have one-on-one attention.
  • To experience a different culture.

How would you like to be sitting talking to someone who could take you on a trip to a far away land instead of sitting at a computer? Maybe have coffee with someone who comes from a completely different culture than your own, or take a walk and speak an exotic language you've only ever dreamed of. Sounds good? This is one of the advantages of living in a place like Toronto. It offers the opportunity to get a taste of almost every culture in the world - all in one city! And participating in Ryerson International Connections can offer you this opportunity today!

When you take part in Ryerson International Connections (RIC) you can visit any part of the world you like and all you need to do is take a few steps. Take your first step toward broadening your horizons and learn about a new culture or practice a language you love. RIC is designed to enrich your International experience at Ryerson without ever having to leave the city. It is a program designed to help the Ryerson community (students, staff and faculty) learn about new cultures and languages while building new and exciting friendships.

How Does It Work?

After applying, the International Student Services (ISS) staff will start searching for a match. Then participants will meet one-on-one to begin the language or culture exchange. Each participant decides when and where to meet and group activities are also available, if participants are interested, on a monthly basis.

The initial meeting must be at the ISS office. After which, participants can meet anywhere on campus. You might meet for coffee after class, or go to the gym for an energizing workout together. Each month the ISS newsletter will provide everyone with the latest and greatest spots to visit!
