So. What does Social Distancing mean and what does this mean for the workplace?
Flu related absenteeism in the workplace can last anywhere from 2-7 days. Fatigue and weakness can last for up to another 2 weeks.
Social Distancing is a key strategy to utilize in the workplace and will help decrease the spread of the flu during flu season.
Instructions for social distancing measures will be outlined when they are recommended but may include the following
cancel or postpone face to face meetings if possible - use telephone/electronic communications more often
- try to arrange employee workstations 1-3 meters apart
- cancel or postpone staff functions
- work from home if you are not feeling well
- try to stay about 3 feet from colleagues if you are coughing or sneezing
Utilizing these strategies can decrease absenteeism and increase efficiency!
