Medical Centre
Test Results
"No News is Good News"Due to the high volume of patients seen at the Medical Centre, we are unable to contact all of our patients about test results unless an abnormality arises. If you haven't heard from us you can assume that "No News is Good News" or alternatively call the Medical Centre to confirm your results. Test results can take from a couple days to several months for the laboratory to process, please check with the doctor or lab technician to determine approximately when your results will be ready.
Can a friend or family member pick up my results for me?
Due to the confidential nature of your medical file, test results will only be provided to the patient themselves, and not to friends, spouses, parents etc. If you are unable to contact us regarding your test results and wish for someone else to obtain them in your place, you must provide express written consent to the Medical Centre. Your authorization must be received before any information can be released.
Can I get my test results over the phone?
Normal test results can often be given to patients directly over the telephone. Sometimes, however, a follow-up appointment is requested by the physician to do further testing or to inquire about how you are feeling. Although the receptionist is often asked to book the follow-up appointment, the receptionist usually does not know the details of the results or the specific reason for the follow- up appointment. Please do not ask the receptionist to discuss your test results over the phone.
HIV Test Results
HIV test results are given to patients in person, by appointment only, please be advised that there are no exceptions to this rule. Patients will not be contacted when results arrive, please check with the doctor or lab technician to determine approximately when your results will be ready.
