Ryerson's Student Space Challenge: Does your space need a lift?
To apply for space renovation funds, you must prepare some information prior to submitting your application to P-FACS. This information will provide the committee with the information necessary to make informed decisions about space funding requests.
If at any stage throughout the process, you have questions or need support, email pfacs@ryerson.ca and a member of the Student Life team will get in touch with you.
Steps for submitting an application
1. Give yourself as much time as possible to prepare your application. Applications are due March 16, 2012, but there are several steps you have take to ensure your application is complete.
2. Your application should focus on cosmetic changes such as paint, lighting, new flooring, furniture and equipment like microwaves or televisions, or card readers; structural renovations will not be considered through this funding stream.
3. To understand what information will be required, review the online P-FACS application here (use your my.ryerson username/password to login). Make sure to select the LOUNGE APPLICATION after logging in.
TIP: If your application is for a specific student lounge, you will need to a written letter of support from your program chair or director. Include this letter as a supplementary document as part of the application process.
TIP: Including a complete budget is a mandatory component of the application process. An Excel spreadsheet template is available for downloading from the online application site. Make sure that you include all costs including a detailed list of furniture, equipment or labour that will require funding. If you have any questions about estimating your budget, you can email pfacs@ryerson.ca for help.
TIP: Include any drawings or layouts as supplementary documents; this will help strengthen your application.
4. In addition to the online P-FACS application, you need to complete this form and submit it to:
Simon Di Vincenzo, Project Architect, Campus Facilities & Sustainability
t: 416.979.5000 ext. 7552
e: sdivince@ryerson.ca
TIP: This form will also have to be signed by your program chair or director if your application is for a specific student lounge.
TIP: To help save you time sourcing furniture and equipment (including card readers), use one of Ryerson’s preferred suppliers. Campus Facilities & Sustainability can provide you with a list. If you want to work with any outside sources for such items, you will need to provide a quote from the respective company.
Important note: After reviewing your completed form, Campus Facilities & Sustainability will provide you with a quote for any furniture, equipment or labour. Include this quote as a supplementary document in your online P-FACS application and integrate the details into your budget document.
5. Once you have contacted Campus Facilities & Sustainability, and you’ve got all your supplementary documents (complete budget, letter of support, drawings and layout, etc.), complete the online P-FACS application in full and click submit.
6. You will receive an email confirming your application submission. All applicants are required to give a short presentation on their application to the P-FACS committee as part of the application process; P-FACS will notify you of this presentation date.
