School of Urban and Regional Planning
Field trips
As part of their degree studies in the School, students are required to participate in a six-day/five-night field trip in third and fourth years. Third year students usually stay in Canada, while fourth year students travel to an American destination.
Destinations are developed in consultation with students well in advance of the trip. Field trips normally take place in early October. Further information is in the School's Planning Handbook.
Independent field trips
These are arranged under special circumstances, and only fourth year students who have completed one school field trip are eligible. Decisions on the awards of the independent field trip privilege will be made by a committee of the faculty. An advisor will be assigned.
Students are responsible for the entire cost and all the arrangements associated with independent field trips.
The full policy on Independent Field trips is in the Planning Handbook.
