Please complete and submit your application form along with other documents required for the specific award to Joanne DiBratto's mailbox, Student Achievement Coordinator, school of Business Management, TRS 1-002.  

DEADLINE TO APPLY - Friday, September 6, 2013

A complete list of the awards and specific criteria are listed below. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Successful winners only will be notified by mail sometime in the third week of October 2013. Details will be provided to the award recipients.

Please note that one complete application is required for each award being applied for and for any new awards that may be added.

*Please note: Students admitted to the Ted Rogers School of Business Management for Fall 2013, through the Direct Entry/Degree Completion Program for Community College graduates are not eligible to apply for awards until they are in their final year of the program.

BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association of the Greater Toronto Area) - Toronto Awards in Business Management 4 awards X Up to $1000 each To a full-time student with an entering average of 80% or better and demonstrating financial need. The recipient will continue to receive the award for up to three additional years, conditional upon maintaining a GPA of 3.00 or better and a course load of 80% or greater.

Arthur Lee Family School of Business Management Award Up to $3700 Open to Ontario-resident students who are entering first year of the Business Management program with a grade of 12U/M average of 80% and demonstrated financial need.

The Manulife Financial Entrance Award for Community Up to $7000 To one full-time Business Management student entering the first year with a minimum average of 80% in 6 Grade 12 U/M or equivalent courses. Preference will be given to students whose primary residency is in the St. James Town area. Must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a protected person and an Ontario resident. Must write a 500 word essay describing why you are an ideal candidate.

Harold Kamin Award  Up to $1000 To a full-time or part-time student entering the Ted Rogers School of Business Management with a minimum final overall high school average of 70% or better, worked gainfully and/or has pursued entrepreneurial venture(s) and/or contributed into volunteer activities in the community or abroad, within three years of graduation from high school and the time entering the Ted Rogers School of Business Management. Has an interest in entrepreneurship or retailing or real estate.

Must submit a resume and statement letter (250-300 words) outlining involvement in gainful employment and/or entrepreneurial ventures and/or volunteer activities in the community or abroad.

Letters of support from employment and/or reference letter(s), entrepreneurial venture materials.

The CMA Gold Medal Award Up to $1000 plus $2000 credit voucher towards any component of the CMA professional program To a full-time student in the Accounting major, has completed 3rd year and are entering 4th year or are graduating students, has successfully achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 in each of the following courses: ACC 410, ACC 801 and ACC 803.

Killin Family Award in Accounting 2 awards x up to $2100 each To two second-year undergraduate students who have declared their intention to major in Accounting in the School of Business Management, demonstrated good academic achievement with a minimum CGPA of 3.00, extracurricular involvement and financial need. Must be a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person and an Ontario Resident.

Ralph Alexander Myers Award (Criteria updated August 30th, 2013) Up to $2500 Excellence in the full-time Accounting major completing first year of the program and demonstrating financial need.  Must be registered with the Access Centre.

Brian William Chant Award  Up to $2400 each Highest standing in Accounting majors at the end of the second year with demonstrated financial need. The award will be renewable in fourth year conditional upon the recipient completing third year with Dean's List standing. Application

Hogg, Shain and Scheck Professional Corporation Award Up to $3500 To a full-time student whose major is Accounting and who has completed the third year of the program with demonstrated academic excellence and demonstrated leadership qualities.

The Anthony Capasso Memorial Award

 

 

Up to $1000 In memory of Anthony Capasso, CA who graduated from TRSBM in 2009, this award is for a full-time student in the Ted Rogers School of Business Management program who completed second year, has declared Accounting as their major, with the intent to complete a CPA designation. Must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 and clear academic standing. All applicants must submit a 500 word essay outlining their career objectives in Accounting and their current community involvement in sports or volunteerism.

Letter of support from the organization within, or outside of, the Ryerson Community, attesting to the student's involement in sports or volunteerism.

Adrian Hordyk Award Up to $830 In memory of Mr.Adrian Hordyk, the award will be awarded to a full-time student in the Entrepreneurship major, who has completed the third year of the Entrepreneurship program, achieved a minimum CGPA of 3.00, and has demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit and a concern for helping others through activities on campus and in the community. The applicant can not be receiving other external awards.

The Aditya Ja Entrepreneurship Award Up to $2900 To one full-time undergraduate student enrolled in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study in the Ted Rogers School of Business Management, majoring in Entrepreneurship, having achieved a CGPA of 3.00 and demonstrated a commitment to entrepreneurship; is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person and an Ontario resident, and demonstrated financial need.

CIBPA Toronto/Ralph and Rose Chiodo Award in Entrepreneurship Up to $800 Full-time student in the Ted Rogers School of Business Management who has completed their 3rd year as an Entrepreneurship Major, and must demonstrate financial need, be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or protected person, be an Ontario resident and demonstrate academic standing with a minimum CGPA 2.67 at the end of third year.

Must provide a Statement of Impact of up to two pages outlining activities that demonstrate entrepreneurial activity and social service that is created a significant positive impact on a marginal or underserved community.

Ontario Real Estate Association Scholarship Up to $1000 To recognize a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in the Ted Rogers School of Business Management who has achieved the highest GPA in the Real Estate Finance Course. To be eligible students must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students in the Ted Rogers School of Business Management, have a clear academic standing, and achieve the highest GPA in Real Estate Finance (FIN 707)

2 awards x up to $1000 each To an undergraduate student in the Ted Rogers School of Business Management who has received a minimum GPA of 3.67 (A-) in Real Estate Finance (FIN 707). Must demonstrate interest in the real estate sector through involvement in related student club activities such as Real Estate Ryerson, and/or through employment within the real estate sector. Only for students who have not received any other award related to FIN 707. Must have clear academic standing.

William and Irene Smith Scholarship Up to $1000 The William and Irene Smith Scholarship in the Ted Rogers School of Business Management was established in memory of William Smith who was a Ryerson alum, graduating in 1953 with a diploma in business administration, merchandising option, and who had a long career in marketing. It will be awarded to a full-time student in the Marketing major, who has completed first year in the Ted Rogers School of Business Management program, and achieved the highest mark in MKT 100 (Principles of Marketing, with a minimum GPA of 3.33 Application

Vera Kasowski Memorial Award Up to $300 Awarded to a student who has completed second year and is enrolled full-time in the third year of the TRSBM, in any major. Based on Academic excellence as demonstrated by a minimum CGPA of 3.33; and leadership skills as demonstrated through volunteer extracurricular involvement such as student groups or committees, or mentoring within the TRSBM and within the University community.

The candidate must have completed first year courses in Introductory Management Accounting, Introductory Financial Accounting, Economics and Statistics. The award winner will have a minimum 3.0 GPA in each of the following courses: ACC 100, ACC 406, QMS 102, and ECN 204.

Beverly Mascoll Award Up to $1000 To recognize a black female student in the first or second year of studies who exemplifies commitment to community service and demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship. Academic merit may also be considered.

Joey and Toby Tanenbaum Business Scholarships 8 awards x up to $8000 each To one full-time student in each of the 8 majors in the Bachelor of Commerce Degree Program entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year with a minimum Cumulative grade point average of 3.33, Ontario residency status, and demonstrated financial need. Must submit a 500-word essay demonstrating their service to the Ryerson community, as well as how this scholarship will make a difference to their education.
