Health Services Management

Admission to the Health Services Management program involves a combination of academic and professional requirements.

Academic Requirements

Prospective students must show proof of ONE of the following academic requirements

  • Graduation from an Advanced Diploma program in applied health from a public Ontario college; or
  • at least 2 years full-time study from an accredited university in a health related field; or
  • a bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Non Academic Requirements

Prospective students must demonstrate at least 2 years of cumulative, current professional experience in the health services field.

Where appropriate, they must present documentation of professional accreditation/certification (e.g., Ontario Nurses' Association).

Potential candidates with other post-secondary academic backgrounds and extensive professional experience in the field of health services will be considered on an individual basis.

Health Information Management

Admission to the Health Information Management (HIM) program involves a combination of academic and professional requirements.

Academic Requirements

Prospective students must meet ONE of the following academic requirements

  • Graduation from a 2-year health record/health information CHIMA-accredited or recognized program; or
  • Graduation from an Advanced Diploma program in applied health from a public Ontario college; or
  • at least 2 years full-time study from an accredited university in a health related field; or
  • a bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Non Academic Requirements

Prospective students must present at least 2 years of cumulative, current professional experience in the health information management or health information technology field.

Where appropriate, you must present documentation of professional accreditation/certification (e.g., CHIMA)

Potential candidates with other post-secondary academic backgrounds and extensive professional experience in the field of health information management will be considered on an individual basis.

  • All Ryerson University undergraduate applications are processed online, via OUAC (Ontario Universities' Application Centre).
  • Original transcripts must accompany all applications. Students with a previous diploma/degree from an Ontario public institution will be able to order a transcript as part of the OUAC application.
