Curriculum

The Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) is unique among hospitality/ tourism schools in Canada in that it is first and foremost a management school. Our graduates are business graduates, with a speciality credential in management for the hospitality and tourism industry.

Our program has a broad orientation that explicitly links service and operational issues to principles of strategic business management. Students are exposed to virtually every branch of business that affects the industry at micro or macro levels.

The HTM curriculum also gives priority to developing students' skills in applied research and the deployment of technology as critical tools for industry innovation. Students undertake real research projects for industry partners as part of their coursework and serve as research assistants for faculty-led R&D initiatives. Technology training encompasses systems, applications, and the use of the Internet as a platform for marketing and distributing information, products, and services.

HTM graduates therefore have a set of competencies that distinguishes them from graduates of other programs. They are the industry's future leaders and innovators-the professionals who will provide direction at senior levels for this multi-dimensional business sector.
