Judy has over 20 years of experience in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry. Fifteen of those years she assisted as an event planner covering Corporate and Association markets with events ranging up to 4,000 people participating in a city wide convention. She has also handled government events including state visits, weddings and social/gala fundraisers.
Her career began at the historic Fairmont Royal York where she worked for nine years in the Catering and Conference planning department with the last four years acting as the Assistant Director of Catering and Conference Services. She then moved on as the Director of Catering and Conference Services at the prestigious Toronto Le Royal Meridien King Edward and the Park Hyatt Hotels. She is an active member with the Meeting Professional International Association (MPI) and Society of Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE).
Judy joined Ryerson University in 2005 as an instructor in the Hospitality and Tourism Management department where she teaches 3 courses: Event Management, Planning and Management of Meetings, Conferences and Conventions as well as Business Aspects of Incentive Travel. She has also taught Continuing Education courses at George Brown College and G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University. Outside of the classroom, Judy is a consultant on Event Management and Motivational Incentive programs.
In 2009, Judy received an award nominated and given by the students of the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management to the person who contributed the most to enhancing the student experience at Ryerson University. Later that same year, she became an Accredited Meeting Professional International Global Trainer teaching their Global Certificate in Meetings and Business Events.
Judy is an active contributor to the younger generation, providing guidance and leadership to several student groups and individuals. In 2013, she was inducted into the Meetings and Incentive Travel Hall of Fame as Mentor of the Year and was recently nominated in 2015 as a Industry Mentor by the Meeting Professional International Toronto Chapter. In 2016, Judy successfully earned her MBA.
