OPC Invitation – « Privacy for Everyone » Symposium
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) is launching its first Pathways to Privacy Research Symposium at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa (53 Elgin Street) on May 2, 2012. We would like to invite you or other members of your organisation to participate in this event. The objectives of the Pathways to Privacy series are:
1. To showcase privacy-related research funded by OPC and other funders.
2. To facilitate dialogue between the people who do the research and those who apply it.
3. To enhance the relevance of research results and enable uptake and application by relevant end-users.
4. To provide an opportunity for interdisciplinary capacity-building, partnership and networking among researchers.
The theme for this year’s event is Privacy for Everyone which is intended to discuss results of funded research on emerging privacy issues among special communities of interest. This year’s event was organized with the assistance of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
Subthemes are: the changing landscape for youth, reaching diverse populations, cultural perspective on privacy and frontiers of identification and surveillance among different populations.
Please note that we are unable to provide funding for participants to attend. Limited audience seating will be available; if you wish to join us, please advise Melissa Gonçalves at melissa.goncalves@priv.gc.ca or 613-947-7097. Simultaneous interpretation will be offered in both official languages.
