Background

Murtaza Haider, Ph.D., is the associate dean of research and graduate programs at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University, in Toronto, Canada. He is also the Director of the Institute of Housing & Mobility . Professor Haider holds adjunct professorship of engineering at McGill University and the University of Toronto.  His research focuses on housing markets, urban infrastructure development, transport, and logistics management.

Professor Haider researches the decision-making of shippers, carriers, and 3PL vis-à-vis the choice of trade routes and transport modes in North America. He also analyzes urban logistics management challenges where the last-mile logistics are hampered by traffic congestion prevalent in most urban centres. 

Professor Haider has also undertaken research in housing supply in Canada. His research focuses on the microeconomic behaviour of builders in the homebuilding industry. He has also published on urban and infrastructure development issues in South Asia. A graduate of Engineering University in Peshawar, he later earned a Masters in transportation engineering and planning, and a Ph.D. in urban systems analysis from the University of Toronto. Professor Haider also contributes to the news media on development issues in South Asia.

A graduate of Engineering University in Peshawar, he later earned a Masters in transportation engineering and planning, and a Ph.D. in urban systems analysis from the University of Toronto. He also obtained a certificate in magazine journalism from Ryerson University.
