Retail Management - Returning Student Awards

 


The following awards are available to students who are in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of the Retail Management program at Ryerson.

(Please note: the information presented below may be subject to change.)

  • Gerald and Brian Smith Award (NEW for 2010!)
    $1500 - Awarded to one third-year undergraduate student in good academic standing who is enrolled in GEO419 Geodemographics in the School of Retail Management. 
  • Hudson's Bay Company Award (x5)
    $2500 - For academic excellence and demonstrated potential to succeed in the Retail Industry.
  • Loblaws Supermarkets Award (x5)
    $2500 - For academic excellence and demonstrated potential to succeed in the Retail Industry. 
  • Sears Canada Award (x5)
    $2500 - For academic excellence and demonstrated potential to succeed in the Retail Industry.
  • Sears  Canada Award (In Honour of William R. Turner)
    $2100 - For excellence in volunteerism and high academic standing.  
  • Wal-Mart Canada Award (x5)
    $2500 - For academic excellence and demonstrated potential to succeed in the Retail Industry.
  • Winners Merchants Memorial Awards (x4)
    In Memory of Michael Barrison, Willly Holtzman & Selma Rotman
    $2500 - For academic excellence and demonstrated potential to succeed in the Retail Industry.
  • Michael Belcourt Award
    $3500 - To a student who demonstrates strong innovative and entrepreneurial initiative in the Issues and Innovations course.
  • Garth Mitchell - Mark's Work Wearhouse Award
    $2200 - Open to fourth-year students only; must have a minimum GPA of 3.50; demonstrated financial need; must be an Ontario resident; letter outlining passion for the Retail Industry, relevant work experience and academic/career aspirations.  
  • Mark's Work Wearhouse Ltd. Award in Retail Management
    $1200 - For obtaining a GPA of 3.00 or higher and demonstrated ability, interest and/or motivation to succeed in the Retail Industry.
  • Sport Chek Excellence Award (x2)
    $2000 - For excellence in sports and high academic standing, 3.00 or higher.
  • C. Fleming Spirit Award
    $1500 - For a student with clear academic standing, who shows dedication in the area of retail, has demonstrated leadership and initiatives, and has improved the learning environment for fellow retail students.
  • Joe Jackman Award for Innovation
    $1000 - To a student who demonstrates exceptional innovative talents in the area of Retail as well as maintaining a strong academic effort.
  • Director’s Award in Retail Management
    $1000 - To an undergraduate student who has maintained good academic standing (min CGPA 2.50) and has committed an exceptional amount of time and energy to the School of Retail Management and the students' experience.  
  • Perennial Inc. Award in Creative Solutions 
    $850 - For students demonstrating excellence in creative solutions for retail business challenges. (*criteria subject to change)
  • Edith Marshall Award (Sponsored by Dom Sports)
    $500 - For academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 3.00 and based on a 250 word essay required on what their career goals will be upon graduating.
  • Petro Canada Scholarship (Renewable x3)
    For the previous year's award recipients in the second, third and fourth year of the program who have maintained a 3.00 GPA   
  • STAPLES Business Depot Scholarship (Renewable x3)
    For the previous year's award recipients in the second, third and fourth year of the program who have maintained a 3.00 GPA.

The following awards are open to retail students entering first year as well as those already in the program who demonstrate outstanding potential to succeed in the retail industry.

  • George Wong Scholarship
    $1250 - For a first or second-year student demonstrating excellence in leadership and contribution to the quality of student life.
  • Donna Smith Award
    $1100 - For outstanding potential to succeed in the Retail Industry with a min GPA of 3.00 or final high school grades with a min average of 75%.
  • Lenscrafter Award 
    $1100 - To a student of the Ted Rogers School of Retail Management program with a min GPA of 3.00 or final high school grades with a min average of 75%, who demonstrate the ability, interest and/or motivation to succeed in the Retail Industry.
  • W.C. Kitchen Award
    $1000 - To a student with a min GPA of 3.00 or final high school grades with a min average of 75%, who has demonstrated ability, interest and/or motivation to succeed in the Retail Industry.
