Invitation to Establish a New Association

As a fellow educator associated with the retail industry, we invite you to join us in the creation of a Canadian Retail Management Education Association (CRMEA).  This Association will be a group of post-secondary educators who seek to build  and address the professionalization of retail management as a career.

The formation of a CRMEA, will provide us with opportunities to focus on
education and research
specifically oriented to the needs and development of the retail industry.  Through a CRMEA, we can share information more effectively, mutually consider emerging trends and issues, disseminate industry-relevant research, and provide development opportunities for students and educators.

The purpose of this meeting is to collectively determine the intent to proceed with creating a formal organization, the purpose of the organization, and the preference for key elements of the articles of incorporation and by-laws (e.g. the name of the organization, membership, elections, Board composition, etc.).

Please join us at the Retail Council of Canada - HR Conference on April 5, 2016. The meeting will be from 12:00-1:30pm at the International Centre in Mississauga Ontario.  At that time, we will determine the membership of a formative Board of Directors who will lead the development of a draft constitution and by-laws.  Please encourage other post-secondary educators to join you in attending - all are welcome!

If you have any questions, ideas or comments about this meeting or the potential for a CRMEA, please contact Dr. Frances Gunn or Sean Sedlezky at the Ted Rogers School of Retail Management, Ryerson University.

Please confirm if you will attend by emailing:
Dr. Frances Gunn

We look forward to seeing you on April 5.
