Live and breathe theatre at Ryerson University
Ryerson University's Theatre School houses, under one roof, Bachelor of Fine Arts programs in: Performance Acting, Performance Dance, and Performance Production.
These three programs prepare you for professional opportunities in the entertainment industry - including theatre, television, and film - and the arts education community. You are also prepared for post-graduate studies.
Five Key Ingredients
Building your passion for acting, dance, or technical production into a career takes five key ingredients found at the School. No other Canadian theatre program offers all five:
Acting
Drawing from Canada?s rich theatrical milieu, centered in Toronto, the School offers training under the guidance of a wide variety of working artists who teach, coach one-to-one, and direct.
Dance
The Dance program is the most intensive and comprehensive undergraduate program of its kind in Canada. Delivered by a faculty with extensive professional experience and a passion for student development, the program has earned widespread respect throughout the national dance community. Rigorous daily professional training in three dance disciplines - ballet, modern, and jazz - is combined with related studies in improvisation, composition, theory, history, and anatomy.
Production
The Performance Production program is recognized internationally for delivering a curriculum of unmatched breadth for artists who wish to apply their creativity to one of the following facets of the entertainment industry:
- Management
- Production
- Design
This season, 2011/12, marks the 40th Anniversary of Ryerson Theatre School. That's 40 years of Actors, Dancers, Production Technicians, Managers and Administrators.
To mark the occasion, we are throwing a Reunion Weekend in February 2012.
From Friday, February 10 through Sunday, February 12, the School will be hosting a number of events, from a Kick-off social at the Imperial Public Library to a Sunday brunch at the Arts and Letter Club.
And the reunion experience would not be complete without attending a Gala showing of the current season's Mainstage production of MARATHON 33, by June Havoc, directed by our Distinguished Guest Artist in Residence, Ivica Boban.
With a combination of free, drop-in events and reasonably priced, register-only get-togethers, there is something for everyone.
