ThriveRU

An attempt to curate, for newly arrived Ryerson students, a meaningful curriculum of events & programming that, when experienced as a whole, will lead to more a thoughtful sense of preparedness & general well-being.

The program will introduce students to and be underpinned by the concepts of Authentic Happiness and Flourishing expressed in the work of Martin Seligman, thus providing a conceptual context around which we can curate and build this curriculum.  Essentially, we will help pull together the various initiatives related to capacity-development and well-being already abundantly on offer at Ryerson, wrap this in the context of Martin Seligman’s work, and illuminate meaningful, individualized pathways and  connections through these various initiatives.

The purpose of this program is to help students feel a sense of support on campus, to better appreciate the connections between academic success and other elements of a healthy lifestyle, and, primarily, to help students develop capacities for well-being that will serve them throughout their lives.

Resilience Flash Cards

The ThriveRU Resilience Flash Cards are a resource for students, staff, or faculty to use when addressing a specific problem, situation, or area for development. 

Each card presents a situation and offers strategies to address it, including on-campus resources. Each card belongs to a part of the PERMA-V theory of cultivating happiness and well-being. The ThriveRU Resilience Cards bring you Ryerson-centred resources and tried-and-true strategies for everything from managing a busy schedule to addressing anxiety to building meaningful relationships and more.
