Admission Requirements - Full-Time: Four-Year or Five-Year Co-op

Academic Requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with a minimum of six Grade 12 U or M courses including the following program specific requirements (a minimum grade of 60% is required in each unless a higher grade is indicated; a minimum overall average of 70% establishes eligibility for admission consideration; subject to competition individual programs may require higher pre-requisite grades and/or higher overall averages):

• English/Anglais
• Mathematics [one of: Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U) or Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U)]

Admission Requirements - Full-Time: Direct Entry

Academic Requirements

• Three-year CAAT diploma in Business Administration or technology-related diplomas specializing in Computer Programming, Information Technology or Telecommunications with a minimum 3.0/B/70% cumulative GPA is required
• Note: Students must complete all course requirements in third and fourth year AND up to a maximum of six (6) one-term prescribed first- and second-year reachback courses

Admission Requirements - Full-Time: Advanced Standing

Academic Requirements

• Three-year CAAT diploma in Business Administration with a minimum 3.0/B/70% cumulative GPA is required

Academic Requirements

NOTE: Mature Students who have a Grade 12 U course in English but do not meet the Mathematics (or equivalent) prerequisite must complete at least one G Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education Certificate in either Business Management, Information Systems Management, or Telecommunications Management with a GPA of 2.0 (C), or equivalent in individual courses from other post-secondary institutions. First Year Entry for Mature Students under these conditions is available only via part-time study.

Alternate Admission Requirements/Equivalent Standing

Applicants educated outside of Ontario must submit evidence of education equivalent to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six Grade 12 U or M courses. It is essential that program-specific subject requirements and grades for specific Ryerson programs form part of the academic background of applicants from outside Ontario, especially in the last two years of secondary school studies. 

The number of applications we receive greatly exceeds the number of spaces available in each program and the possession of the minimum requirements in no way guarantees acceptance. Due to competition candidates may be required to present average/grades above the minimum.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Students applying with the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma must present passes in at least six subjects: three at the Higher level and three at the Standard level, with a grade total not less than 26 and with no mark less than 4. Applicants must include the specific subject requirements for the program(s) to which they are applying among their Higher and Standard levels. Subject to competition, applicants may be required to present averages/grades above the minimum. IB Higher Levels with grades of 5 or higher may be considered for transfer credits on an individual basis with completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma. American School System/Advanced Placement Graduation from a Grade 12 academic program at an accredited secondary school with high academic standing including minimum B grades in the program-specific subject prerequisites and a minimum B overall average. Subject to competition, applicants may be required to present averages/grades above the minimum. The high school profile (including accreditation, grading scheme, etc.) must accompany the academic record. SAT Reasoning with a minimum score of 550 in each SAT component is recommended. New SAT standards currently under review. ACT scores (24 minimum) and Advanced Placement (AP) examination results are also considered. Applicants who do not present the above criteria will be considered on an individual basis, taking into consideration their high school performance, SAT/ACT/AP scores and first-year standing from an accredited university or college, where applicable. AP examination scores of 4 or higher will be considered for transfer credits on an individual basis. British-Patterned Education (Under review) The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE/IGCSE) Ordinary Level and the GCE Advanced Level Examinations (U.K. Examining boards) The Cambridge International Exam (CIE)/Cambridge Higher School Certificate Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Scottish Certificate of Higher Education Applicants must present the following: GCE A Level – At least two A Levels in different subject areas with predicted grades of ‘C’,’B’ or higher and final grades of ‘C’,’B’ or higher. (These requirements are under review.) GCE AS Level – Two AS Levels are acceptable in place of an A Level. GCSE O Level – At least three different subjects at the GCSE O Level with final grades of at least ‘C’,’C’,’B’ or higher. Possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Higher results may be required for some programs due to competition. Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may also be considered on an individual basis subject to space and competition. Prerequisite subjects should be presented at the GCE A Level, however excellent AS Level and GCSE O Levels will be considered for some programs. English at the GCE A Level is required for programs in the Faculty of Arts (excluding Geography and International Economics and Finance), as well as Journalism, Radio and Television and Business Management. English at the GCE A Level is recommended for all other programs. Completion of the GCSE O Level in English as a Second Language with a grade between ‘A’-’C’ will be considered in order to meet the English prerequisite subject requirement (except where noted otherwise above). It will not, however, replace an English Language Proficiency Test (i.e. TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) Applicants to programs in the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Science must include mathematics and either physics or chemistry at the GCE A Level. Preference will be given to applicants who include all applicable program subject prerequisite requirements at the GCE A Level. GCE A Levels with grades of ‘C’ or better may be considered for transfer credit on an individual basis. No transfer credit is given for AS Levels.
