About the Program: Helping to bring a child into the world is an extremely rewarding experience and it’s often a midwife who helps facilitate this fundamental miracle of life. Midwives are registered health professionals who provide primary care to women with low-risk pregnancies from conception until six weeks after birth. Working in community-based group practices with other midwives, these resourceful, adaptable and highly trained health practitioners work with women and families of diverse backgrounds, beliefs and values. Graduates of Ryerson’s program play an important role in Canada’s maternity care system and women’s health care.

This is a Grades-Plus program. In addition to the academic requirements listed below, this program selects students on the basis ofgrades PLUS non-academic requirements.

Thinking of applying? Make sure the program is still accepting applications.

Academic Requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with a minimum of six Grade 12 U or M courses including the following program specific requirements. Typically, a minimum overall average of 70% establishes eligibility for admission consideration; subject to competition individual programs may require higher pre-requisite grades and/or higher overall averages:
