Important Notes about Advanced Standing Admission
-
There is only one admission phase to the Program in the Fall Semester.
- Advanced standing applicants will be selected for CVSW 15A/B: Foundations of Social Work II, based on their post secondary academic performance and/or documented employment in the social service field. The number of advanced standing admissions to the Program is limited. Qualified applicants currently exceed available spaces. Given the strong competition for space, applicants will normally be required to present significantly higher academic averages to qualify for an Offer of Admission.
-
Ontario College applicants must have the three (3) Liberal Studies courses completed by April 30, 2010. No extensions will be given. Officially certified transcripts or final grades for these courses must be received by Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment at Ryerson no later than June 1, 2010.
-
Liberal studies and employment prerequisites must be successfully completed prior to enrolling in CVSW 15A/B.
- Under the "Advanced Standing" admission policy, Social Service or Human Services Counselor Diploma Holders will not be considered for admission to a level lower than third year.
Alternate Admission Requirements/Equivalent Standing
Applicants educated outside of Ontario must submit evidence of education equivalent to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six Grade 12 U or M courses. Ryerson reserves the right to be the final arbiter of what it will accept on an equivalency basis. It is essential that program-specific subject requirements and grades for specific Ryerson programs form part of the academic background of applicants from outside Ontario, especially in the last two years of secondary school studies.
The number of applications we receive greatly exceeds the number of spaces available in each program and the possession of the minimum requirements in no way guarantees acceptance. Due to competition candidates may be required to present average/grades above the minimum.
Alternate admission requirements/equivalent standing outlined below represent the minimum qualifications for admission consideration and are subject to change.
