Deafness related projects

Sort of a hybrid of research and service, I have undertaken projects from time to time that relate to deafness. While these are usually motivated from the service side of fulfilling a sense of obligation to improve the conditions for people with whom I share an experience, these projects and publications are more than personal experience essays, as they incorporate an academic approach with the inherently authentic insights of direct personal experience.

These papers report on cross-sectional population health analyses of health, as well as education, employment, and injury experience of Deaf Canadians.

Occupational Health and Safety for Sign Language Interpreters

Sign language interpreting is a critical link for access for Deaf people in mainstream education, work, and community environments. Musculoskeletal and other hazards can disable interpreters and reduce access. Musculoskeletal injury is also a possibility for Deaf people as well.
