Please log in or create an account to book an appointment. If you are having trouble using WCOnline, call us at (416) 979-5000 ext 2892 during our working hours.

Important Guidelines

  • You must print out your work before meeting with a tutor
  • We will teach you how to recognize where your work needs help and suggest writing and editing strategies
  • We will not proofread your work, suggest content for your paper or help with take home exams
  • If you bring in group work, we can only work on the parts written by the parties present. 
  • Please note that all tutoring appointments begin at ten minutes past the hour (i.e. 1:10, 2:10). Appoinmtents are 50 minutes in length.


Creating Your Account

If you are a first-time user on WCOnline, click on the link above. You will be prompted to fill in some basic information and create a password. Use your Ryerson e-mail address as your login ID and choose a password.Once you have created your account, you can log in as a client and view the online schedule.

Note:
Don't forget to allow pop-up windows. Please also make sure to use an e-mail address that you actually use.


Appointment Policies

Before you arrive to your appointment, you must have your written work printed out on paper. Each appointment is 50 minutes in length and students can only book ONE appointment per week. However, you may drop-in at anytime for additional help if a tutor is available.


Viewing the Online Schedule

When you log in to WCOnline, you will see the appointment schedule for the current week. Tutors’ names are listed on the left hand column, and time slots are listed from left to right.

Timeslots are colour-coded:

  • A white (blank) rectangle means that the time slot is available for booking.
  • A blue rectangle indicates that the time slot has been booked by another student.
  • A yellow rectangle indicates an appointment that you have booked!

Booking Your Appointment

Once you have found an available timeslot, click on the white rectangle. The ‘New Reservation’ window will pop up with the tutor’s name at the top.

At the bottom of the window, please add additionall information as prompted:

  • the course your assignment is for (if applicable)
  • the name of your instructor (if applicable)
  • a brief description of what you want to work on during your tutoring session. Your tutor will be able to see this information prior to your session. Make sure to hit 'Save Reservation'! You will get an automatic e-mail from the Centre for Writers confirming your appointment.

Canceling and/or Rescheduling Your Appointment

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you can do so online up to 12 hours before your appointment begins. If you do not cancel before 12 hours before your appointment, it will be marked as "failed to attend." You will be restricted from booking futher appointments if you do not attend three booked appointments in any given semester.

To cancel your appointment, click on your booked reservation to open the ‘Modify Reservation’ window. Scroll to the bottom of the window, check off ‘Delete Reservation’ and hit ‘Save Changes’.

Please note:  users who miss three scheduled appointments will be restricted from booking further appointments that semester.


Skype

 Please book these appointments online and have a .doc, .rtf., or .pdf version of your paper handy at the beginning of the tutoring session. Please add: "ryersonwritingcentre" (no quotes) to your SKYPE contact list and look for us online when you session is scheduled to begin.

A basic knowledge of SKYPE, a free SKYPE account, and a microphone are required to access this service. The session will be similar to in-person sessions. Please note: this is a pilot project with the possibillity of expansion in the future. Your comments and feedback are appreciated.
