
Established in 2007,
this annual contest recognizes new and
emerging writers and is open to any student enrolled in a Ryerson University G.
Raymond Chang School writing workshop (i.e., only students enrolled in CWWR courses) in
the semester
prior to June of the current year.
Contestants may enter
work in any of the following three categories: poetry; creative non-fiction (memoir, travel
writing, etc.); or fiction (short story or excerpt from a longer work
of fiction).
Prize:
The winners in each
category will be published in the current
issue of the White
Wall Review. They will also receive a two-year subscription to White Wall Reviewand one free course in the Chang School
Writing Program (any course beginning with
code CWWR). Winners will be invited to read from their work at the White Wall
Review launch held each Fall at
Where applicable, White Wall Reviewwill also publish
contest submissions considered worthy of honourable mention in the current issue.
Submissions:
Please follow the
submission guidelines printed in the back of this issue. Ensure that your cover
letter also includes the CWWR course in which you were enrolled, the term in which you were enrolled and
the name of the instructor of the course.
Your cover letter should also clearly indicate the category
in
which your entry is to
be considered.

Write Now!
White Wall Review participates annually
in the Word on the Street book and magazine festival in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In
line with
the festival’s celebration of reading and advocacy for literacy,
the Write Now! Contest
challenges festival attendees to demonstrate their creativity and talent by participating in
an “on- the-spot” poetry writing contest.
Prize:
Publication in the
next issue of the White Wall Reviewas
well as two copies of the issue in which the poem appears.
Submissions:
Submissions are
accepted at the submission box at the White
Wall Review booth on the Word on
the Street Festival (Toronto).
Contest Deadline:

The White Wall Review's
"Postcard Story" Contest
Can you write a story
in 250 words or less? If so, write it on the back of a postcard and submit it for
consideration in the White Wall ReviewPostcard Story
contest. Factors to be considered by
the judges include innovation and economy in the content of
the story.
Those wishing to submit a postcard story should not feel obliged to match the
story to the postcard’s image.
Prize:
Winners will have both
their story published in the next issue of the White Wall Review and on our website and
receive two copies of the issue containing their work.
