Admission Requirements

Admissions Requirements/Grades Plus
The HIM and HSM programs have both academic and non--academic (grades plus) requirements for admission. Please click on the following program links to find more inforamtion on the individual requirements of each program.

Note: Applicants who have yet to finish their first degree may be eligible for conditional acceptance contingent on completion of their degree requirements prior to the start of classes.

Admissions Process

The Health Services Management (HSM) and Health Information Management (HIM) programs accept students at three entry points:

  • Fall (September start)
  • Winter (January start)
  • Spring/Summer (May start)

You will be prompted to select your start term when applying online.

Note: Students who wish to access upper-level psychology, sociology, or economics courses must have an introductory, university-level course in psychology, sociology, or economics or permission from the program.

Admission procedures

  • Each application will be reviewed by the Director of the School of Health Management Services to ensure academic suitability for the program.
  • In accordance with University policy, candidates who have achieved more than the minimum requirements may have their transcript assessed for transfer credits. Credit may be granted for no more than 50 percent of the total program.
  • Applicants must submit officially certified transcripts, along with course descriptions and outlines, of their complete academic history at the post-secondary level, including their studies in an applied health science program.
  • Letter or resumes documenting recent work experience, continuing education and professional activities in the health field and where appropriate, documentation of professional registration/certification must also be included.
