Information for Prospective Students

A MESSAGE from the DIRECTOR

The School of Health Services Management was founded in 1994 and is newly affiliated with the Ted Rogers School of Management.

The School specializes in part-time degree completion programs. In 2003 the School introduced a Bachelor of Health Administration in Health Information Management. To fulfill the requirements, students take 24 one-semester courses, the equivalent of two years of full-time study.

The central location for the program is at Ryerson and all core courses are offered here. However, some liberal studies and professionally related elective courses are offered through Open College Distance Education.

The core courses are offered in a variety of formats which include evening, web-based and modular. A modular format consists of all day Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..

GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION

The School of Health Services Management specializes in part-time degree completion programs.

The HIM and HSM programs have been designed to provide health practitioners with an enhanced ability to lead and manage within an evolving health system. HIM students will develop a broad understanding of the emerging health information field as well as developing the ability to function at a managerial level in the healthcare industry. If you’d like to be a well-prepared, capable manager with increased career mobility, the Health Services Management (HSM) program will prepare you. Graduates can look forward to careers in health facilities and community-based agencies, or to the continuation of their studies at an advanced level.
