OCCA Council Members from London visited the Ontario Section in October 2007
Visiting members were Stan Jones (President OCCA), Len Jennings (President Elect), Chris Pacey-Day (General Secretary) and Yvonne Waterman (Assistant General Secretary). They visited as a part of the ICE 2007 show activities.
The visiting Council members had a “Meet and Greet” with OCCO at the Park Plaza Hotel on October 2nd 2007. Their other activities included: participating in the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology Annual General Meeting, interviewing an OCCO member for a FTSC grade level of membership, a host dinner at the CN Tower, a private tour of Hostmann-Steinberg Ink facility, and a day trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Special thanks are given to Mike Miller (Siegwerk) and Peter Simpson (Hostmann) for arranging some great events for our distinguished guests.
We are proud to announce the outcome of the interview that Mr. Khurram S. Baig has been elected to the International Professional Grade in the Class of Fellow (FTSC). Congratulations from OCCA!!
OCCO 2007 Golf Tournament
OCCO Celebrates 20 Years of the Golf Tournament!
Mike Dryden of Sun Pigments hosted the landmark 20th Year Anniversary of the Golf Tournament on September 4th 2007, at Nobleton Lakes Golf and Country Club. It was another overcast day but the participants did not let the weather keep them from enjoying the event. There was also wonderful dinner afterwards with great prizes.
This was Mike’s swan song for the tournament as he retires this coming year. OCCO wishes to thank Mike Dryden for many years of great service and putting on a consistently fine tournament for the industry. The tournament serves as a competitive but friendly environment to meet people from across the Ink industry.
The new Chairs of the tournament will be Bruce Clatworthy (DCC) and Neil Thorpe (Dempsey). Good luck to them in the future. Push forward guys!
Graduation Night 2007
Gord Parker (Univar) hosted the annual October Graduation Night for OCCO held at Tony Roma’s in Mississauga. The night honours graduates of the 3-year Printing Ink course offered by OCCO of Ontario. Graduating student Stefan Czobit of Hostmann-Steinberg won two awards on the night. Congratulations!!!
OCCO at TOSCOT Christmas Luncheon Event
OCCO members took part in the TOSCOT Christmas Luncheon. The annual charity event is run by the Toronto Society for Coatings Technology and was held on December 4th 2007 at the Marriott Hotel by the airport. This supports the CHUM City Christmas Wish Program.
