BACKGROUND

I am an Assistant Professor in the Global Management Studies Department at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University. I graduated with a PhD from the Department of Economics at Carleton University in 2010 with a dissertation on "Empirical Investigation of the Foreign Market Expansion and Survival of Canadian Exporters".

My research focuses on internationalization strategies of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). I am in particular interested in the various effects of internationalization on the performance of SMEs. I have thus investigated the determinants and longitudinal trend of different internationalization patterns pursued by Canadian SMEs. My research also extends to the expansion patterns of Canadian firms towards emerging markets. Recently, I have studied in the effect of internationalization on the survival, growth and innovation of Canadian entrepreneurial firms.

At Ryerson University, I am teaching topics related to Managerial Economics and Global Management. I also taught International Trade at Carleton University when I was a PhD student.
