Zone Startups, a global series of accelerators with seed funds based in Canada and India, is planning to launch in Ho Chi Minh City later this year. Ryerson Futures Inc., external link (RFI) will operate this corporate accelerator program with the goal of helping to grow and invest in early-stage technology companies.
Similar to operations in Canada and India, Zone Startups Vietnam will work closely with local partners to provide an accelerator program for enterprise solutions requiring market validation and customer acquisition assistance. It will collaborate with existing incubators and co-working spaces in the local market and work with high potential startups that require support, mentoring, access to customers and, in select cases, funding.
Through its Zone Startups programs, Ryerson has built a strong track record of national and international growth. Its other programs include:
- Zone Startups Calgary, external link in partnership with GE, Telus and Baker Hughes, located in Calgary, Canada, focuses on startups in the Industrial Internet of Things, cybersecurity, and energy sectors;
- Zone Startups Sports + Media, external link in partnership with Rogers Communications, located in Toronto, Canada, focuses on fan engagement and eSports;
- Zone Startups India, external link, including programs with Barclays, Axis Bank, and the Bombay Stock Exchange, located in Mumbai and Bangalore, focuses on solutions for financial institutions as well as enterprise SaaS solutions;
- The original RFI accelerator program, launched in 2013, focuses on enterprise SaaS-based solutions. Companies in the program have raised over $320MM.
