How to Complete Fillable Forms

Please Note: Ryerson Fillable PDF Forms have been designed to be completed and saved using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Below, you will find a browser-based guide on how to access and complete Ryerson's fillable forms using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Older versions of Adobe Reader (X and below) will not save completed forms. Completing forms with any other software (such as Preview for MacOS) may cause unexpected errors.

  1. Download the fillable form PDF

    a) Click on the form you would like to complete.

    b) Your web browser will then open the form.

    c) Do not complete the form while it is open in your web browser. Instead, save the form as a PDF. The method to save a PDF varies by web browser, please refer to the web browser specific instructions below.

     Please Note: It is best to save the PDF file into a folder you can locate easily, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder.

    a) Once the form you would like to complete opens in your Chrome browser, click on the "Download" button on the right hand-side of the browser.

    b) Clicking the "Download" button will reveal a dialog box allowing you to save the PDF to a folder of your choosing.

    a) After you've clicked on the form you'd like to complete, a toolbar will appear at the bottom of your Internet Explorer browser.

    b) Click on the "Save" button to save the PDF to a folder of your choosing.

    a) Once the form you would like to complete opens in your Firefox browser, click on the "Download" button on the top right-hand side of the browser.

    b) A dialog box will then open prompting you to save the file.

    c) Confirm "Save File" is the selected option and click "OK".

    Safari's Save As button can be found from the File menu (found in the top left-hand side of the Menu toolbar)

    a) Once the form you would like to complete opens in your Safari browser, click on "File" (from the top left-hand side of the Menu bar) to reveal the File menu dropdown list.

    b) Then select "Save As" from the dropdown list to save the fillable form.

  2. Open the fillable form PDF in Adobe Acrobat DC

    Right-clicking on the downloaded PDF, and then select Adobe Acrobat from the "Open With" menu

    a) Navigate to the folder where the PDF was saved.

    b) Once you have located the downloaded file, right click on the file and click the "Open With" button in order to open the PDF file with Adobe Acrobat.

  3. Complete the fillable form in Adobe Acrobat DC

    Adobe Acrobat DC's Save button is on the left-hand side of the program

    a) When Adobe Acrobat DC opens the PDF, it will highlight all of the fillable fields with red boxes. Items that are optional are typically highlighted with black boxes.

    b) You will now be able to fill out the form fields to completion.

    c) When you have completed the form, click the "Save" button on the top left-hand side of Adobe Acrobat DC to save your changes.

    d) You’re done! Now simply submit the form(s) as instructed on the document.
