Why would someone confess to a crime they did not commit? How often does this happen in the justice system? What happens to them if they are found guilty even though they believe they are innocent?

Steven Drizin, a legal star of the Netflix hit documentary, Making a Murderer, will talk about the factors that often lead the accused to ‘admitting’ to a crime they did not commit. He will also explain why some groups, including youth, are more vulnerable than others in falsely confessing.

The lecture is sponsored by the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, the Dean of Arts and the Department of Criminology.
