Student FAQs

You can address me as Michael, as Professor Bergmann if you want to be formal, or MFB if you want to be informal. I don't have a Ph.D. (yet) so it is inappropriate to use the prefix of Dr. I really don't like Mister, so please avoid that.

My pronouns are he / they.

See the Teaching page for details on the specific courses of this year. Typically I am teaching the Projection Design module of THP 102 and THP 202, Projection Design (THP 350), Projection Design Special Topics (THP 660), Show Systems Engineering (THT 582), and overseeing the Independent Study Project / Capstone course (THP 800).

Probably. It is really helpful to provide me with details to help make a strong letter. Since grad school applications are all due around the same time, it becomes a busy season of letter writing. I'm happy to do it if I think I can give you a strong letter.

Once you start down the road of asking for letters, watch this excellent video by Dr. Matt Hale for Dos and Don'ts before sending the request.
