Ryerson University

Psychology Department

PRTC

Research in perception, cognition, and neuroscience has enjoyed a period of rapid growth and development at Ryerson in recent years. The Brain, Perception and Cognition (BPAC) Group, formed in September of 2007, provides a forum for sharing and developing research ideas, and for promoting research excellence.

In keeping with Ryerson’s history, the nine core faculty members and their associated teams integrate basic and applied approaches to research. Current research in BPAC incorporates a range of methods including imaging (EEG, MRI), computational modeling, psychophysics, electrophysiology, and reaction time. These research methods are applied to normal, psychopathological, sensorily impaired, and cognitively impaired populations, across the lifespan. Labs are housed in the new Psychology, Research and Training Centre, located in Toronto’s Discovery District, providing excellent opportunities for collaboration with surrounding hospitals, institutes, and industry.
