Foundations of Qualitative Research
This is a course about the qualitative methodological traditions used in social science research. Students will be introduced to a range of contemporary theoretical perspectives and interpretive methodological designs used to study lived experience. Students will learn important transferable skills, such as active listening, one-on-one interview techniques, problem solving and report writing. The goal is to develop a critical awareness of how qualitative data is interpreted and represented, with an emphasis on text-based data analysis.
