Ana Tomachynska started her camp journey way back in 2015 at Bayview Glen Day Camps, and since then has been a Ryerson Day Camps Counsellor, Leader-in-Training Facilitator, and Specialty Camps Lead across a four-year camp career with our program. She earned her undergraduate degree from Ryerson in 2017 with a major in History and minor in English, and promptly achieved her Bachelor of Education from York University in 2019. Over the past year Ana has been teaching both in classrooms and remotely for the Toronto District School Board, and brings an enviable wealth of experience in education and camps to her role. When she’s not shaping young minds, Ana likes to adventure through a good book, or around her neighbourhood on a bike.
Cara Tiemens joined Ryerson’s summer camp team back in 2015. She worked as a counsellor for four years before becoming the Sport Camps Lead in 2019. Now, in her sixth year with our program, she is the Assistant Coordinator for our virtual camps. She earned her undergraduate degree from Ryerson with a major in English and minor in Professional Communication, all while playing for the Rams Women’s Basketball team for five years. Cara decided to continue her education at Ryerson and she is currently working towards her Master of Professional Communication. In her spare time, Cara enjoys getting outside to play sports, hang out with friends, and relax at the cottage.
Matt Edmonds is a lifelong camp kid entering his second year with Ryerson Camps. Growing up in Hamilton, he first fell in love with camp at McMaster. As a camper, junior leader, counsellor, and member of the camps leadership team, Matt spent 18 wonderful summers with McMaster’s day camp program. Along the way, he earned a B.Sc and B.Ed before finding work at the University of Alberta, where he ran their Intramural Sports program for five years. Now back in Ontario, Matt is excited to help bring the Ryerson Camps program to life for yet another incredible summer.
