Working With vApps

Virtual Applications (vApps) has a dedicated file storage available as the Personal Storage (V:) drive.

  • Ryerson offers 500mb of storage on the Personal Storage (V:) drive.
  • Ryerson wipes the server and its drives daily with exception of the Personal Storage (V:) drive.

It is strongly recommended that you save your files on the Personal Storage (V:) drive to prevent loss of data/files.

 

  1. To add apps into your favorites tab, select the Apps tab located at the top of the window.

  2. To select an app you would like to add, you can either click the star in the top-left corner of the app you wish to favorite or click on the app and click Add to Favorites.
    To add a favorite, click click the star in the top-left corner of the app or click on the app and click Add to Favorites

Note: Anything added to the favorites will display in Windows Start Menu.

All Favorites will appear in the Start menu.

1.  Go to https://vapps.ryerson.ca, launch the virtual desktop by going to the Desktop tab located at the top of the window and double click on VApps 2019 Desktop.

2.  At the top of your window, click the pull tab with three white bars (≡)

3.  The following icons will be displayed at the top of the window.

Downloading From Your Local Drive to the Citrix Workspace

  1. Click the download icon Download icon  (Cloud with a downward arrow) found at the top of the screen.

    To select download, click the Cloud with a downward arrow
  2. Navigate to your desired file and click Open to download the file to your local drive. You will find your downloaded file in the Downloads folder (this may be different depending on your settings).

    Locate the file to download and click open.  

Uploading From Your Local Drive to the Citrix Workspace

  1. Click the upload icon Upload icon (Cloud with a upward arrow) found at the top of the screen.

    To select upload, click the Cloud with an upward arrow
  2. A window will open displaying your local drive; navigate to your desired file. Click on the file and click Open.

    Locate the file to upload and click open.
  3. Navigate to your desired save location, then click OK.
    NOTE: 
     It’s strongly recommended that you save your file to the Personal Storage (V:) drive.

    Find the location to save your file and click ok.  

1.  Launch the Citrix application and go to the Desktops tab located at the top of the window. To launch the virtual desktop, double click on VApps 2019 Desktop.

2.  Citrix will launch a new window; this is the virtual desktop.

3.  Click the Start menu icon at the bottom-left of the window, then click This PC.

Uploading From Your Local Drive to the Citrix Workspace

  1. Your local files are found in the Local Disk drive.  Navigate to the file you want to move, right-click the file and select Copy.
    To upload files, from "Local files" right click the file and select "copy"
  2. Return to the Personal Storage (V:) Drive, then in your desired location, right-click and select Paste.
    Return to the "Personal Storage (V:) Drive" and right click to select Paste     

Downloading From Your Local Drive to the Citrix Workspace

  1. Navigate to the file you want to move in your Citrix session, on the Personal Storage (V:) Drive. Right-click the file and select Copy.

    To download files, From "Local files" right click the file and select "copy"
  2. Return to the Local Disk drive under This PC, then in your desired location, right-click and select Paste.

    Return to the "Personal Storage (V:) Drive" and right click to select Paste
