Chess Poetry

The ChessBard takes the algebraic notation for a chess game in .PGN format (digital file format for archived chess games) and outputs two poems, one for the black pieces, one for the white pieces. Visitors to the site can translate old games (external link)  or play against the ChessBard and generate new poems in real time (external link) . As well, there are regular creative responses (external link)  to the projects from a variety of players, poets, programmers, scholars etc that promises to keep the site an ongoing communal space of discussion.

See in particular Gary Barwin's response (external link)  to the site.
