On June 4, CERC Migraton hosted a webinar to investigate how the global pandemic reshaped our relationship to the “nation”.

Our international experts explored questions such as what membership of a social or political community means during a pandemic emergency, what a citizen's or resident's obligations are towards their community, and if the pandemic is coming to the rescue of the nation-state.

Featuring short talks by:

  • Prof. Anna Triandafyllidou, Canada Excellence Research Chair in Migration and Integration, Ryerson University
  • Prof. Craig Calhoun, University Professor of Social Sciences, Arizona State University

Discussion will be chaired by:

  • Prof. Tariq Modood, Professor of Sociology, Politics and Public Policy, and Founding Director of the Centre for the Study of Ethnicity and Citizenship, University of Bristol

Following presentations, the audience will be invited to participate in a Q&A discussion.
