The Department of Civil Engineering offers both undergraduate and graduate level programs in Civil Engineering.
Our department offers an excellent undergraduate curriculum in Civil Engineering with an option in Structural Engineering. Students will have option to further focus on studies in Structural Engineering after completing the first two years, or select to specialize in either Environmental Engineering or Transportation Engineering Stream after the first three years. A unique feature of the regular Civil Engineering curriculum is the strong training in Geomatics Engineering through taking 6 related courses.
Civil Engineering undergraduate students may opt to enroll in Optional Industrial Internship Program (IIIP), Optional Specialization in Engineering Innovation and Optional Specialization in Management Sciences Entrepreneurship.
The Department offers graduate programs leading to a PhD, Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree or a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Civil Engineering. With award winning professors conduct research and teach courses in the major fields of Environmental Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Transportation Engineering, these state-of-the-art programs are designed to prepare high-qualified graduate students to play an active role in enhancing the nation's economic, environmental, and social development.
Graduate students can work in one the following four study fields:
Environmental Engineering: focuses primarily on urban facilities and environment as well as environmental informatics
Geomatics Engineering: focuses directly on the various aspects of data collection, information generation and management related to the Earth including the surface, subsurface, water and atmosphere
Structural Engineering: focuses directly on the various civil engineering means by which the country can deal with the matter of deteriorating built infrastructure
Transportation Engineering: focuses on planning, design and management of transportation systems with emphasis on the road and transit infrastructure
