Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering

Program Description

Combining chemical expertise with knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies, chemical engineers create new processes, materials, and energy sources to achieve such things as faster silicon chips, better tasting food, cleaner water, improved solid waste treatment, new pharmaceuticals, and longer-lasting batteries.

Accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board, Chemical Engineering Co-op emphasizes practical applications and tackles real-life engineering problems through laboratory work, research projects, mathematical modeling, and computer simulations. Students find employment opportunities in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, design and construction, electronics, environmental technology, safety and health, food and beverages, fuels, and advanced materials

Students should be open to relocating to improve their chances of finding work as many opportunities in fields such as petroleum production and refining, and others are in cities outside the greater Toronto area.
