Dr. Hayden King

Hayden King is Anishinaabe from Beausoleil First Nation on Gchi’mnissing in Huronia, Ontario. In addition to joining the department of Sociology at Toronto Metropolitan University, Dr. King is the Executive Director of Yellowhead Institute and Advisor to the Dean of Arts on Indigenous Education. He is also an adjunct professor at Carleton University and senior fellow at Massey College. Previously Dr. King taught at McMaster University and the First Nations Technical Institute and has also served as senior advisor to the Ontario government, Director of Research at the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, and scholar-in-residence at the Conference Board of Canada. Dr. King is among the noted Indigenous public intellectuals in Canada with his research and analysis on Indigenous politics and Canadian settler colonialism appearing widely. He is also a co-founder of the Ogimaa Mikana Project and co-host of the Red Road podcast.
