In his review of economic reports for the Toronto Region published by the Toronto Region Board of Trade, Dr. Clayton concurs with the Board's focus on the Toronto economic region as a whole and believes the Board is providing a very positive contribution to the debate on how to ensure continued strong economic growth in the region and rising productivity of its labour force. However, he has reservations about whether the long-term forecasts are achievable without a strong regional-level government structure. The article was published in the spring 2014 issue of The Land Economist.

Dr. Frank A. Clayton Appointed as Senior Research Fellow of CUR 
David Amborski, Director of the Centre for Urban Research and Land Development, is pleased to announcement the appointment of Dr. Frank Clayton as a Senior Research Fellow at CUR. Frank’s career as an urban and real estate economist extends over several decades. He is a graduate in Economics from the University of Wisconsin and Queen’s University. His employment experience includes a stint with Statistics Canada and CMHC. He was President of Clayton Research Associates Ltd., an economic consulting firm he established, for 25 years before it was acquired by Altus Group. He is also a self-employed economist specializing in the impact of environmental factors on property values and the highest and best use of property.

Frank along with David Amborski and Patrick O’Hanlon, was instrumental in the establishment of CUR. He is a member of CUR’s Management Committee.

CUR Gives Students Inside Look at City-Building Initiatives 
The Centre for Urban Research and Land Development is an expert-led research organization that focuses on the role of economics and market analysis in urban policy development, teaching and public education. Researchers will explore the economic aspects of urban land development issues including infrastructure, transit, land-based taxes, exactions and funding programs. The goal of the in-depth research is to produce recommendations and solutions that will help inform policy-makers’ decisions.
