Contest details

This year we’re doing things differently with #DisplayYourPride at Home. We are asking participants to showcase the resiliency of 2SLGBTQIA+ peoples and allies, environmental sustainability and what pride means in your home.

In addition to the fabulous decor, here are some ideas on how you can display your pride with inclusive, educational and sustainable practices.

Environmental sustainability

We’re asking individuals to consider the environmental sustainability of displaying our pride. Don’t get us wrong—rainbows and balloons are great! Visibility in general is incredibly important and we want you to participate in any way you’re able!

However, we also ask that you be mindful and try to decorate with items that you already have, that are reusable for years to come or are multi-use/permanent fixtures.

Personal resilience and wellbeing

What does resilience look like for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks? How do you challenge internalized negative messages, minority stresses, make a safe space for yourself and build your community of support?

Engaging with your community

In this time away from campus, we’re encouraging you to display your pride from your homes, to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in your own unique way, to be inclusive of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. We’re asking participants to also consider how to engage with their local community/outside world from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Perhaps a pride flag or messages of support in your window? Maybe you can highlight 2SLGBTQIA+ authors, artists or local businesses.
