OVPECI Community of Practice

954307646

A community of practice is a network of people who are connected in some way.

The OVPECI Community of Practice will be a cross-campus group that will meet on an ongoing basis to collaborate, discuss, connect, dialogue, map, present and share learnings and best practices as it relates to equity, diversity and inclusion at TMU.

The group will help to build organizational capacity, share knowledge and strengthen networks to apply the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion at the university, helping to support the work of the Education, Awareness and Outreach unit

What is a community of practice?

Members of a community of practice typically work around a shared expertise. One of the most important aspects of the OVPECI Community of Practice is the ability for members to share knowledge, engage in professional development activities and to develop best practices. Our members will provide input, expertise and shared knowledge on ongoing campus-based initiatives related to equity, diversity and inclusion and will have the opportunity to engage in a broad range of activities that impact the entire campus.

Purpose

The purpose of the OVPECI Community of Practice is to enable us to foster equity, diversity and inclusion values while being guided by a community of practitioners. Right now, while many people at TMU are engaged in equity, diversity and inclusion education and training, there are few mechanisms for us to meet and exchange ideas, or for us to know “who is doing what”. The OVPECI Community of Practice will provide this forum.
