In light of disruptions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada’s tri-agency federal research grant and funding agencies have extended deadlines for financial report submissions.

CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC extensions

The deadline has been extended to September 30, 2021 for those submitting financial reporting forms 300 and 301 for the 2020-2021 (April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021) Annual Reconciliation of Active Awards. This extension applies to the following agencies:

  • Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)
  • Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC)
  • Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), including the Canada Research Chairs (CRC).

CFI financial reporting deadline: June 15, 2021

  • Interim financial reporting is due June 15, 2021
  • Infrastructure operating fund annual reports are due June 15, 2021
  • Final financial reports are due within six months of the project’s actual end date. The exception to this is projects with an actual end date no later than March 31, 2021. Since those were granted a three-month extension, their final financial reports are due within nine months of the project’s actual end date.
