Central Location

The PRTC is situated in the heart of the university campus, flanked between Gould Street to the north and Dundas Street to the south and located within Toronto's Discovery District, which includes Ryerson as a partner institution. The PRTC is within walking distance of leading research hospitals including Hospital for Sick Children, Mount Sinai Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, St. Michael's Hospital (also on Bond St.), and Toronto General Hospital - and therefore is ideally situated for linking research and practice.

Historic Site

Located on Toronto’s historic Bond Street with its numerous heritage-designated buildings, the PRTC is housed in the former Doubleday Canada headquarters. This is where Doubleday started its publishing company in 1944 and later launched its Bond Street Books series; in fact, the connection between Bond Street and publishing is a rich one with links to Ryerson faculty. Ryerson purchased the building in 2006 and preserved the historic façade and exterior shell. In 2007, Ryerson gutted and redesigned the entire building to provide lab and graduate training space for Psychology on the second floor. Several years later, the PRTC expanded to include a large section of the first floor. The Department of Urban and Regional Planning is housed on the 3 and 4 floors, while the first floor is shared between Psychology and various ancillary university services (including Shipping and Receiving). Meticulously designed by Dzikowski Architects Inc. and built by Compass Construction Resources Ltd. to meet the LEED (external link)  (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building rating system, the South Bond Building is a wonderful addition to Ryerson’s expanding footprint in downtown Toronto.
